September

Well we are coming to the close of summer and the heat is on!!  As much as we like the summer heat, we are looking forward to some cooler fall temperatures--it makes the heavy harvests a little easier. This weather does help the crops grow and ripen and make sure we have plenty of pumpkins, squash and gourds for the fall. September is still a growing and harvesting month on the farm.

The fields are bursting with colourful vegetables and fruits and we are in full harvest swing. Check out our on farm market for things like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbages, lettuce, beets, carrots, garlic, tomatoes, potatoes, onions.... and the list goes on!

Busy, busy, busy on the farm.   will by bundling corn stalks and fixing the many scarecrows that decorate our yard.  This Fall there is a brand new straw pyramid  and the corn maze will be ready to roam. Our admission price increases once the yard is decorated and the corn maze is open, then it will be $6/person.  Please respect our home- yes we live here-pay the admission, clean up your garbage, and realize how much effort and work goes into making it clean, tidy and beautiful.  We appreciate our many customers that support us as farmers.

Thanksgiving turkeys

Okay, it's time to think about your Thanksgiving turkey.  We are taking orders, the birds will range from 12 to 30 +/- pounds.

How do we grow our birds? They are corn, grain, soybean fed.  No antibiotics, growth hormone.  We laugh every time we see the A & W ads--we have been doing what they are saying since the beginning!

They run around a curtain walled barn enjoying the sunshine and breezes while being protected from wily coyotes! And yes, they are happy turkeys.

For the kids, there are downloadable colouring images.

Farming is a lot of very hard, dirty and non-ending work but we still enjoy what we do and we love to share our experiences with others.
